Rosanna Pavoni was director at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan from 1988 to 2002. She is Professor of Museology at the Faculty of Cultural Heritage Sciences of the Insubria University of Como, and also teaches at the Master in Museology at the Catholic University of Milan. She collaborates with the Provinces of Como and Milan, developing projects for museum systems. She is, since 2012, Scientific Advisor at the Studio Museo Vico Magistretti in Milan. Former President of the International Committee for Historic House Museums (Demhist) for the International Council of Museums (ICOM), she is currently Advisor of the museological project of the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum in Milan (the scientific catalogue for 2003-2004 she curated) and of the Adriano Bernareggi Diocesi Museum in Bergamo (the guide she curated in 2001).

She created and coordinated an international study on the various typologies of House Museums, a topic on which she has written extensively, including publications such as House Museums in Italy (2010). 2012 saw the publication of the third edition of Musei. Trasformazione di un’istituzione dall’età moderna al contemporaneo, a manual of museology co-written with Pietro Marani.
