Exodus, the most ancient form of power-struggle since the Old Testament forms the backdrop to the multiplicity of social movements of our own times. In the imperialist wars seeking territorial hegemony, in the great resignation from work, in the seeking for alternatives to the destruction of the earth by extraction, in the gender struggles against the violence to women’s bodies, a semantic exodus is taking place: a process of reassessment of our being in the world that comes about as a consequence of the act of desertion. Exodus as revolution, an active escape from models of work, life, exploitation, repression and violence which for too long have been waiting for their historical nemesis. As in the revolutionary struggle of Iranian women, as in the huge social mobilizations in France, as in the mass migration movements of people escaping from wars and climate catastrophe, nothing seems to stop the research for new promised lands. The desertions through this endless time we are in, embed the act of radical rebellion that reassess the reasons for existence. That places us on the side of life, not war.
