For several years, Fondazione Antonio Ratti has been committed to promoting and applying permaculture practices through workshops and gatherings involving artists, permaculturists, geologists, botanists, and agroecologists.

Permaculture is a design system aimed at creating sustainable communities and environments. It offers practical tools for developing productive and efficient landscapes, as well as resilient and regenerative social structures.

The course, coordinated by Saviana Parodi, will be divided into two parts:

The first two days (July 19–20) will focus on an introduction to permaculture design, exploring its principles, ethics, and tools for observation and planning.

The following three days (July 21–23) will be dedicated to hands-on activities in sustainable construction, including techniques such as earthen plastering, the use of natural lime (aerial and hydraulic), and timber structures.

The activities will center on the restoration and transformation of a former stone tool shed located in the upper area of the Foundation’s park, with the aim of turning it into a functional, self-sufficient, and welcoming space for year-round activities.
