The conference explored the construction of Arto Lindsay's creative and intellectual path in all its components, including behavior, lifestyle, music, contemporary art, and parades. In particular, Lindsay talked about how politics cross and at the same time structure all his work, starting from the way he plays the guitar, up to the genesis, collaborative practices, and the composition of a parade in the urban space.

Born in the United States and raised in Brazil, musician Arto Lindsay has drawn invaluable inspiration from both countries for his artistic work. Lindsay is the mastermind behind the unsettling and seminal noise of DNA and called the No Wave movement in the bubbly and deadly New York of the late seventies, but also the brilliant assembler of funk, samba, and experimental music of Lounge Lizards, of The Golden Palominos and then the Ambitious Lover in the Eighties. In the nineties, he embarked on a new path with a series of forays into the bossa nova tradition, without abandoning the taste for improvisation, the most radical research, noise, electronics, and the most eclectic ways of experimentation in general. As a producer, he produced albums for Caetano Veloso, Marisa Monte, David Byrne, and Laurie Anderson. A cult figure, open as few to indiscipline and always loved in the world of visual art, Lindsay has collaborated on several occasions with Dominique Gonzalez Foerster, Vito Acconci, Matthew Barney, Rodney Graham, Noritoshi Hirakawa, Ernesto Neto, Philippe Parreno, Rirkrit Tiravanija. In recent years, he has dedicated himself to the creation of parades, starting from his long experience of creative participation in the Salvador de Bahia carnival. Among the main personal experiences, there were De lama lamina, with Matthew Barney in Salvador in 2004, I'am a man (Frankfurt, 2008), Multinatural (Blackout) on the occasion of the exhibition Fare mondi at the Venice Art Biennale (2009), then in Performa, New York and Berlin in 2010 and, moreover, in Paris with Philippe Parreno (2009), then, with Rirkrit Tiravanija again in Paris (2010) and in Los Angeles (2011). He has composed music for films and videos for Sophie Nys, Dominique Gonzalez Foerster, and Tristan Bera without ever interrupting his career as a solo musician, playing in the most disparate contexts, from major international festivals (Primavera Sound, Barcelona, ​​2011) to art fairs and to the more traditional concert venues. He currently lives in Rio de Janeiro.
