Starting from the restoration projects of two pre-Colombian artifacts arrived in Fondazione Antonio Ratti's collection thanks to the donation of Seth Siegelaub's bequest. Open Archive offers an opportunity of encounter to share knowledges related to the history, innovative techniques and practices in textiles.

Thanks to the synergetic work of professionals of diverse backgrounds and of Centro Conservazione e Restauro la Venaria Reale, it was possible to learn more about the materials and to develop an approach to the conservation of archaeological and ethnographic artifacts being in line with the needs of Fondazione Antonio Ratti while staying applicable as a general guideline.

The experiences acquired from this project push us to set and interdisciplinary dialogue between conservation techniques, scientific expertise, historical and symbolic research that - when assimilated and elaborated - have the potential to create innovative practices for the future.
